Proposal for improved sports facilities for Whitburn
Whitburn Juniors FC has been based in Whitburn since 1934 and owns its own ground in the town centre (Central Park.) The Committee has joined forces with Whitburn SCA (Youth Teams) to try to raise sufficient finance to introduce floodlights, a G4 pitch, a sports hall for Boxing, Judo, Karate, badminton and other indoor sports and a new pavilion. At present many of the Whitburn teams have to go outwith the town for training and proper facilities and the young people feel embarrassed when visiting teams play here. Improved facilities would make the Club more sustainable by hiring out the park each day. It would also give the town a community asset to be proud of. The steering group really needs support from the community and evidence of demand for these facilities.
Do you support this proposal? Would you and your kids use these facilities? Send us your comments and we’ll pass them on.
